The art of being Chinese
Come experience Singapore's multicultural heritage through the eyes of a Chinese at Huayi 2012 – Chinese Festival of Arts. To be held at the iconic Esplanade Theatres on the Bay, you'll get to view some of the most dynamic forms of Chinese artistic expression – ranging from the traditional to avant-garde.
This latest edition of Huayi is its 10th and it has come a long way to become one of the most warmly embraced arts festivals in Singapore. At the same time, Huayi is also a significant part of Singapore’s Chinese New Year celebrations.
Huayi is more than just an arts festival that celebrates Singapore’s cultural diversity. It also seeks to represent the Chinese diaspora and their artistic talents by providing Chinese artists with a platform to present their works. As you view them, you’ll be able to reflect on the different perspectives and interpretations of what it means to be Chinese.
The theme for Huayi 2012 festival is “Courage” and it will feature a diverse showcase of ticketed and non-ticketed programmes across various art forms such as theatre, dance, music, visual arts and more.
If you love Chinese arts and its heritage or wish to learn more, this is one arts festival not to be missed.
