Stop by Fort Siloso and be transported to a different time. A relic from World War II (WWII), this is Singapore’s only preserved coastal fort. Built by British colonials in the 1880s to protect the western entrance to the Singapore harbour, the fort now houses a large collection of WWII memorabilia with actual 17th century artillery, life-sized replicas and interactive exhibits.
Located at the western tip of Sentosa (formerly called Blakang Mati – the Island behind the Dead) just south of Singapore Island, the Fort is one of four coastal gun batteries which were constructed by the British on Blakang Mati.
The fort also served as a concentration camp for Prisoners of War during the Japanese Occupation. While you’re here, also view the various dioramas which depict the lives of soldiers on their way to and during their stay in Singapore.
