Take a break from shopping, send home some postcards and discover KPO. At the junction of three major city arteries—Killiney Road, Penang Road and Oxley Road— KPO opened its doors in May 2009 after a dramatic makeover of the iconic Killiney Post Office. The postwar look of the building has thankfully been retained—with a few added touches of modern flair like glass walls and steel fixtures, complete with a greenhouse on the second floor. The post office is still fully functional, and it co-exists seamlessly with its adjoining café bar.
Embrace the luxury of their all-day breakfast menu with favorites like eggs Benedict going for $12, or tuck in to some local fare (they do a really good nasi lemak—local dish consisting of rice cooked in coconut milk, with a side of shrimp paste, egg, anchovies and peanuts—here). Quench that hard-earned thirst with a beer or three; happy hours here run daily from opening till 8pm. As the sun goes down, the resident DJs come out to spin their ambient grooves; and you’ll be hooked so much that you’d be hard pressed to leave.
