If you’ve never attended a Chingay Parade, you’re in for a treat. For the first time in its 40-year history, Chingay 2012 splashes out with a water parade of breathtaking performances on a 360m waterway along the F1 Pit.
The first ever Chingay Parade was held in 1973 as a Chinese procession of bigheaded dolls, lions and dragons. Since then, it has evolved into a colourful celebration of passion, compassion, romance, harmony, nurture and community spirit.
In 2012, you’ll be enthralled with a dazzling extravaganza of cultures from Singapore and around the world, coming together in a spectacular display of splashing water and light effects. Hold steady for the grand entrance of an LED dragon dance — a symbolic gesture of prosperity, abundance and good luck. Powered by a team of 750 dancers, the ‘dragons’ seem to come alive with well-coordinated footwork and fluid movements.
Make a date for the two-day parade which starts on Friday, 3 February 2012. Join us for the first-ever Chingay on the waterway — a celebration of love, care and kindness, everywhere.
