As dusk falls over our city, take a walk on the wild side at the Night Safari. The world’s first-ever park for nocturnal animals holds over 130 different species, from the Malayan tiger to the Indian rhinoceros.

You’ll be able to get up close and personal with these wondrous creatures by embarking on one of four walk trails. If you’re feeling a little tired from the day’s activities, we recommend taking the Guided Tram Ride instead. This 35-minute experience will take you across all seven of the wildlife park’s distinct habitats.

In the afternoon, pay a visit to the National Gallery Singapore, where you’ll find art from all across the globe. Housed in twin buildings that were once our county’s City Hall and Supreme Court, this world-class institution boasts to over 8,000 works of art from Singapore and across the region.

The Lion City’s reputation as a retail paradise finds full expression at Orchard Road, our island’s most famous shopping belt.

You’ll be able to spend most of the evening treasure-hunting at the many malls along this bustling retail stretch. Global brands and fashionable threads abound at malls like ION Orchard and Wisma Atria, while luxury brands can be found at The Heeren and Mandarin Gallery.

Orchard Road is also home to a trove of world-class restaurants, including Michelin-worthy establishments like bení, Les Amis and Alma by Juan Amador.

Day 4: Hip meets heritage

With its lantern-festooned streets, hip boutiques and age-old temples, Chinatown is a tantalising blend of old and new.

To immerse yourself in Singapore’s rich culture, take a stroll down South Bridge Road. Masjid Jamae, Sri Mariamman Temple, and Buddha Tooth Relic Temple & Museum all possess striking architecture and fascinating insights, and are testament to Singapore’s religious diversity.

You’ll want to time your visit to this historic neighbourhood just as the sun sets. The golden-domed Sultan MosqueKampong Gelam’s most striking landmark—makes for a beautiful photo opportunity at dusk.

Gregarious travellers will find ample opportunity to socialise by embarking on a bar hop along Haji Lane. This narrow street is home to a whole range of hip watering holes and buzzing bars, from the New Age-themed Going Om to live performance venue Blu Jaz Café.

Day 5: Peranakan delights and rich culture

With its rainbow-hued heritage shophouses, cool cafes and modern boutiques, Katong-Joo Chiat is one of Singapore’s liveliest districts. 

The neighbourhood is famous for being a trove of all things Peranakan*, with eateries, shops and architecture bearing the culture’s striking influence.

Indulge in a piping hot bowl of Katong laksa (spicy coconut milk-based noodle soup), sample Peranakan kueh (bite-sized snacks or desserts) at Kim Choo Kueh Chang and shop for intricate nonya garb at Rumah Bebe.

*The term is an Indonesian/Malay word that means “local born”, which generally refers to people of Chinese and Malay/Indonesian heritage.

19 Bras Basah Museum & Art District in Bugis

Spend the rest of your day in the district of Bras Basah.Bugis, a vibrant arts and culture district in the heart of Singapore. You’ll be able to bargain hunt at Bugis Street, discover our region’s rich art and culture at the Singapore Art Museum or spend a quiet hour or two at Fort Canning Park or the Armenian Church.

There are dining opportunities aplenty in the neighbourhood, but we recommend dinner and a cocktail at Loof. This charming rooftop bar takes inspiration from the nostalgia of Singapore’s past, and serves up both delightful cocktails and delectable comfort food.

Day 6: Lush green spaces

While most modern metropolises are urban sprawls, Singapore has a reputation for being a city in a garden, with green spaces and parks dotting the entire island.

Spend the day amidst nature and tranquillity at Singapore Botanic Gardens. This UNESCO heritage site is filled with beautiful flora, including over 600,000 orchid plants at the National Orchid Garden.

To learn more about this 161-year-old garden, drop by the Singapore Botanic Gardens Heritage Museum. This beautifully-conserved colonial building will clue you in on the space’s long and colourful history.

Peckish nature lovers can break for lunch at The Halia—located amidst the one-hectare Ginger Garden. The restaurant specialises in Western fare, and you’ll be able to indulge in a variety of pastries, salads and brunch staples.

Night

In the evening, take a stroll along The Southern Ridges. This lush, 10-kilometre long stretch is popular among local bird-watchers and nature enthusiasts, and connects some of Singapore’s most beautiful green spaces, like Mount Faber Park, Labrador Nature Reserve and Hort Park.

Henderson Waves—a pedestrian bridge suspended 36 metres above the ground—is a great place to kick back and relax if you’re feeling tired. Time your visit around dusk and you’ll be treated to some spectacular sunset views.

Day 7

Spend your last day in Singapore exploring the aptly-named Jewel Changi before jetting off. Easily accessible from all of Changi Airport’s terminals, this scintillating space boasts awe-inspiring spectacle, world-class retail and delicious food galore.

The centrepiece at Jewel Changi is undoubtedly the HSBC Rain Vortex—the world’s largest indoor waterfall. Surrounded by the terraced Shiseido Forest Valley, this marvel of modern engineering is a great place to relax and unwind.

Families looking to romp with their children can head to the Canopy Park, where they can lose themselves amidst the twists and turns of the Mirror Maze, jump for joy with the Manulife Sky Nets – Bouncing and admire the artistic beauty of the Discovery Slides.

Before embarking on flight, you can sate your cravings for Peranakan fare at Violet Oon Singapore, or visit Tiger Street Lab for hawker delicacies and an ice-cold mug of local beer.
