Broadcasting business opportunities to Asia
Sophisticated digital infrastructure, a multi-cultural society and high technological penetration have made Singapore a popular base from which to roll out international and Asia-specific material. Activities in Singapore span the entire media cycle, from design conception, production and post-production, to distribution, sales and marketing.
A network of key media players
Singapore is at the centre of content creation in the region. It is the regional home to global media players such as ESPN, Discovery Asia, BBC World, Lucasfilm, Walt Disney Television and Discovery Asia. Game makers like Namco Bandai and Ubisoft, as well as digital media giants like Lucasfilm and Double Negative, are tapping into the country's robust digital infrastructure and large talent pool. 14 of the top 15 global communications service agency networks have their regional hubs in the country.
Our Focus Moving Ahead
A new creative age
Under the ASEAN ICT Master Plan 2015, there will be more collaborations among Southeast Asian nations in developing digital infrastructure and content. More multi-national corporations will enter the region to form local and regional partnerships to create content for the fast-growing Asian market. In 2014, the Singapore Media Festival was created, bringing together regional landmark events such as BroadcastAsia, CommunicAsia, Asia TV Forum & Market and ScreenSingapore, to cement Singapore's position as the media and digital content hub. The industry is also expanding on its development of niche segments such as game development, transmedia applications and intellectual property management.
